What is Gouri?
Gouri is the 1st liquid-type PCL (Polycaprolactone) injectable. It naturally spreads and regenerates collagen on the entire face. Symptoms such as skin sagging, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity appear due to decreased collagen formation caused by aging and various external factors. Gouri is a product that provides fundamental anti-aging, such as improvement of skin elasticity and wrinkles, through natural collagen formation throughout the entire face. The effect of the procedure typically appears within 2-4 weeks.
Benefits of Gouri
Bio-stimulates collagen and improve skin elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles
Improving the overall skin quality in a gradual and natural way
Improve the appearance of fine lines around the forehead and periorbital areas
Quick, safe and effective treatment with minimal downtime and pain
How is it done? Is it painful?
It is injected at 5 unique biostimulation points on each side of the face. It is usually not painful and pain control methods like numbing cream and/or local anesthesia may be used depending on individual pain threshold.
How does it compare with Profhilo, Nucleofill, Rejuran and other HA skinboosters?
I had previously written in more detail about each of these here. This table summarizes the key differences between Gouri and the abovementioned treatments.
| Gouri | Profhilo | Nucleofill | Rejuran Healer | HA skinboosters |
Component | Polycarprolactone (PCL 21%) | Non cross-linked, high and low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid (32mg/ml) | Polynucleotides (25mg/ml) | 2% polynucleotide | Hyaluronic acid, either cross-linked or non-cross linked (15-20mg/ml) |
Benefits | Excellent collagen regeneration properties resulting reversal of skin ageing | Provides deep hydration and collagen remodeling. Stimulates. adipocyte(fat) stem cells. | Hydration, collagen stimulation, antioxidant properties by scavenging free radicals | Skin repair, balance of oil and moisture levels in the skin | Hydration, skin brightening. May also contain ingredients like amino acids, vitamins, anti-oxidants and minerals beneficial to the skin. |

Ideal candidate | Best for treating overall loss of skin elasticity and wrinkles, and those who are also looking to target the forehead and eye area | Ideal for those with ageing, sagging and dehydrated skin that lacks volume | Best for firming and contouring. Great for treating dry skin that suffers from oxidative stress. | Ideal for treating damaged skin, including skin that has enlarged pores and scarring from acne | Best for those who have dry skin and hope to have skin that is bright and glowing, which some call the 'glass skin' look. |
As you can see, many of these treatments have overlapping benefits and sometimes it may be confusing trying to decide which to choose. It is safe to say that almost all skin types may benefit in certain ways from any of these treatments. As a doctor and also as someone who has personally tried all the above treatments, I'd say there is no one-size fits all/best treatment out of the lot. However, usually after discussion with my patients, we are usually able to find the best match to fit their desired results, lifestyle and budget.
